iPad is cannibalizing Netbook sales

Microsoft has officially stated the fact that the iPad is eating into the Windows-powered netbook sales, according to Graviella Schuster, GM of Windows We think it’s more like the funeral of the Windows-powered netbook. With other interesting OS’s coming out for low-end netbooks and tablets – such as Android,Chrome OS and Blackberry’s own proprietary system expect to see this market get very competitive, very quickly.

Graviella Schuster of Microsoft says:

But the success of the Apple iPad, and the impending Google Android tablets, are beginning to threaten Windows’ hold on the “and” PC market. These [Netbooks] are definitely getting cannibalized. These are really a second device. But they are getting cannibalized.

Currently the iPad is holding a 90%-95% of the tablet market and reportedly 20% of all consumers in the US plan on purchasing an iPad in the near future. Is this going to be the funeral of the netbook?
